Patrick Garland has been fishing for two decades. Taught and encouraged to fish by his grandfather and uncle to help reduce stress, and to get him outside when he was a youngster in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Patrick started to expand his skills in fly fishing when he was living in the Reno/Tahoe area of Nevada, angling many of the eastern Sierra’s rivers and small streams. Patrick has called Southern Colorado his home for 7 years, and enjoys fishing alpine lakes and small streams with his wife, son and faithful fishing dog when he is not guiding.
I love fishing and being a guide, being on the water is my happy place. It calms me, and keeps me connected to something that is bigger than myself. I choose to guide because I want to help others learn how to fish properly. Whether it is someone who has never touched a fly rod or a seasoned fly fisherman, I hope to teach him or her a new approach to fishing. I get great satisfaction out of watching others succeed when fishing. Catching fish is always the bonus, because there are no guarantees in fishing. Being able to help someone land his or her first fish is exhilarating for me. I want my clients to come away with an enjoyable experience, engaging conversation, and hopefully a few fish.
